Jess Knaus is an indie author of contemporary fantasy and science fiction from Newcastle, NSW, who loves creating stories that blend the fantastical with the deeply personal.

She’s currently editing her debut novel and has spent years sharpening her storytelling skills through short fiction. With a background in music, Jess has released an EP (Late Night Drive, 2012) and an album (Loud + Clear, 2019), using songwriting as a way to explore character and emotion—skills she now brings to her writing.

Her love of storytelling began with childhood favorites like Emil and the Detectives and Harry Potter, and grew during university, where she studied classics like Beowulf and Dracula. These stories inspired her to focus on creating worlds of her own. Drawing on her experience in book publishing, Jess crafts immersive tales with a focus on heart and humanity.
